SBC provides competitive compensation packages to employees and in addition  has taken a host of initiatives since its inception 4 years ago to recruit and retain the best talent available in Tanzania :
 

a)

Ensure timely contributions towards NSSF at 10% of employees’ consolidated salaries since May’2001.

   
b)

Effected 4 salary revisions  since April’ 2001,  resulting in increase  of  basic  salaries
of employees by more than 100% cumulatively over the 4 year period since inception.

Reviewed  and  introduced a  number of  incentives  including the  Quality  Excellence
Incentive  and   Faysal El-Khalil award for  Sales  Excellence. To  bolster efficiency and
productivity and to cultivate the spirit of competition in Sales & Production Departments, incentive schemes have been periodically implemented.

In  addition  to  reimbursement  of medical  expenses  upto 1  month of  basic  salary
annually, the Company has provided Inpatient  Medical Insurance  coverage for all its
employees as well as Outpatient coverage for all employees at Dar Es Salaam which is available for the employee, spouse and 4 children.

The signing of the Collective Agreement in Feb'05 between the Management of SBC Tanzania Limited and TUICO marked yet another milestone in the history of SBC in terms of consolidating the labour relations enjoining the Management and the work force as one SBC Family. The Collective Agreement is in the process of getting registered with the Industrial Court of Tanzania.

 
The main objectives of the Collective Agreement were:
 

a)

To regulate terms and conditions of employment at the work place

   
b)

To create healthy and harmonious labour relations at the work place through improved working and living conditions.

 
c)

To provide a premise  from which to easily  refer employees' rights and obligations.

   
d)

To guide employees on how to amicably process their complaints or disputes & thereby resolve conflicts from within the Company.

   
   
The Collective Agreement clearly stipulates  the benefits that will be provided to  the employees (medical, canteen, uniform, leave etc) as well as the obligations, duties and responsibilities of the employees.
