Strong values have been part of SBC Tanzania Limited ever since its inception in 2001. We are committed to maintaining ethical business practices and are an active contributor to the communities in which we serve.

Corporate Citizenship is a fundamental part of our identity. We consider ourselves to be a valuable partner and neighbor in every community we serve. SBC is building a strong legacy through enduring partnerships in the communities in which we do business and we hold this as a clear commitment to being a socially responsible corporation determined to make a real and sustainable difference across Tanzania

As a responsible corporate citizen, we aim to act in a socially responsible manner at all times guided by the following minimum set of principles:

1. Employees
2. Ethical business practices
3. Environment
4. Stakeholder relationships

Our employees are our most crucial resource, and therefore we abide by the following principles:

Equal opportunities - We are committed to offering equal opportunities to all people in their recruitment, training and career development, having regard for their particular aptitudes and abilities.

Health and safety - We seek to provide a safe and healthy workplace and system of work in line with local regulations, to protect all employees, visitors and the public, insofar as they come into contact with foreseeable work hazards at our work places. We will continue to develop safety awareness amongst all employees.

Harassment - We will not tolerate sexual, mental or physical harassment in the workplace. We expect incidents of harassment to be reported & dealt with appropriately by our Human Resources Department.

Compensation - We remunerate fairly with respect to education, skills, performance taking into account the local conditions in Tanzania and the Best Industry Practices.

Communication - We brief employees and their representatives on all relevant matters on a regular basis.

Training & Development  -  We focus to have highly comprehensive  training  packages for all employees(on the job training, class room sessions, external  training)  wherein their track performance is reviewed. We work with the individual to try  and find out their skill `gaps' and bridge them to enhance their capabilities, leading to excellence in performance. Our training programs are driven by two factors, the skills set  required by the individual to transact successfully with the market and the areas in which the individual feels that he needs to develop. On the basis of this we create our own capability agenda, which will allow the individual to develop in a holistic manner.

Competition - We are committed to free and fair competition and we will compete strongly but honestly complying with all local competition laws.

Confidentiality and accuracy of information - The confidentiality of information received in the course of business will be respected and never be used for personal gain. False information will not be given in the course of commercial negotiations.

Business gifts and hospitality - Gifts, other than items of very small intrinsic value, are not accepted. Employees who receive hospitality must not allow themselves to reach a position whereby they might be deemed by others to have been influenced in making a business decision as a consequence.
